Inky's reporting that Bob Brady received a death threat before last night's debate. Chris Matthews did look like he wanted to go after Brady at the onset of the debate ...
Brady characterized the caller as "a coward" and added: "Cowards don't bother me."
In other news today, another group is ramping up its own issues-based ad campaign, likely to be targeting Michael Nutter and his crime plan. One Step Closer has previously paid Chaka Fattah/Mayor John Street ally/aide/cousin Shawn Fordham money for consulting work and it hosted the Hip Hop Summit last year that Fattah was a big part of.
Meanwhile, the candidates are still fighting for the pie of undecided voters, anti-casino activists are putting together their shadow election and Dwight Evans is gunning for Nutter's crime plan, too.
And Carol Campbell has been forced to testify in front of the ethics board by a city judge.
The board meets to handle possibly related business (we'll see) this morning. It's at the Philadelphia Bar Association, 11th and Market, 11th floor, 11 a.m. Get there 11 minutes early if you're going — security's tight.
UPDATE: From a Metro staffer that just returned from Chris Matthews' Metro-sponsored discussion at the Union League this morning: Matthews called last night's debate a "clown show." Sounds about right.

Brady and his cronies - Subpeonas? Back room deals? Party politics as usual.

Someone throw me some Slayer, I think we're going to get a little.... WAR ENSEMBLE!!!!!!
My god, Philadelphia politics... it's times like these that make me glad I decided to get into this race! Honestly, stuff like this just reminds me more of a concert than politics.
I want to be the first to coin the phrase: This is Mosh Pit Politics at it's best!

I hope this shadow group comes after Fattah's "stop and frisk" crime plan too

I tell you what, Knox (a/k/a C. Montgomery Burns) has snapped. His unhinged diatribe in the middle of last night's debate sheds light on both his state of mind and management style. Threatening to kick another candidate's behind? Please. I think everyone on that stage with the exception of Mike Nutter could snap his vampire body in half.
Can you imagine this arrogant aristocrat trying to negotiate with members of City Council? Or garner a consensus to lead?
I don't. I think that this rich creep's first reaction is to release the hounds anytime and anywhere he does not get his way. Note: he would totally have a trap door installed in room 215.
$800K in advertising in a single week? It's both disgusting and ridiculous. Its Knox hitting the panic button now that he realizes he may not win (get a return on investment).
Did you notice the gaggle of "Knox Supporters" outside of the constitution ctr? All local 98 guys, who remarked "hey, beers on Knox... let's take him for all he's got".
He is a man who will spare no expense in his self financed Doc sponsored junta.
Simply put, Knox is unfit to lead.

Of all the mayoral candidates, Bob Brady is the one I would least like to fight.
