The blog was called a mouthpiece for Frank Keel last night, so what do we do first thing this morning? Talk more about Frank Keel.
Keel, after sending around two versions of his anti-Michael Nutter screeds yesterday, is in negotiations with Tom Knox's campaign to start doing some sort of PR work for them, according to an e-mail obtained by Metro.
Keel's asking for $10,000 for his work services. He swears he wasn't working for Knox when he sent his anti-Nutter message out yesterday.
Also this morning, make sure to tune into Radio Times. Jesus White is going to be on air later; Dave Davies is up now.

how much is the metro paying Keel, more or less than Knox?

So let's take a look at the company Tom Knox, the reformer, keeps: Jon Dougherty, Janie Blackwell and Frank Keel. That right there is an all-star team of outsider, anti-corruption, clean government.... unbelievable.

That's a smarmy group.

Where does this thought come that we're somehow a mouthpiece for Keel? We print some of what he says, pointing out that he has at least roundabout connections to Tom Knox.
Are we also a mouthpiece for Michael Nutter? Or Chaka Fattah?
For the record, Metro isn't paying anyone but myself to write about the mayors race, save for a few columns by Clark DeLeon.

I just have to applaud you for covering this, so thank you for that. :)

Applaud what Larry?!? Frank Keel is the scum of the earth. He's someone who is a suburban resident trying to crook his way through city gov't. Why? His ego is never satisfied and simply writing about him is on a level lower then that of a Milton Street write-up.

Larry wants to take Nutter's votes.

So I can't applaud that their making sure people know about his seedy connections?

If you don't frame yourself as a non-biased observer from the beginning, you can't expect people to suddenly treat you like one when you start bashing a candidate.

Who is responsible for the Blackwell/Knox lawn signs in NE Philly? Is someone trying to play the race card?

Actually, I saw the Blackwell / Knox signs down near University City and along Baltimore Ave. this past weekend. Pretty sure they're legit.

I heard they say "Paid for by Knox for Philly." It's common knowledge that they cut a deal (both the Inquirer and the Daily News wrote about it), so I imagine they're legit.

Maybe Tom Knox needs Frank Keel!?! I just drove down the Boulevard, and saw all these Tom Knox / Jannie Blackwell signs around Cottman Ave. I don't see how Blackwell's endorsement is going to solidify the Knox vote in the Northeast. I don't even know what it does in West Philly, but in the Northeast, I would think she'll hurt more than help.

I'm glad the Metro is reporting this, just makes it easier to connect the dots: from Tom Knox to Frank Keel to Jon Dougherty.
Posted by: Nutter Butter | May 07, 2007 at 03:31 PM
Sounds like he's just trying to promote his newly minted alliance with Jannie Blackwell.
