Ken Smukler's anti-Tom Knox ad wasn't aired by any TV stations after a letter arrived from Knox attorney Paul Rosen last week.
Now, according to Smukler, he's been informed that a similar letter was sent to Clear Channel for the radio version of the ad that is scheduled to start running tomorrow morning on Power 99 and Q102.
UPDATE: Rosen confirms that he sent the letter. "It is our position that media makes decisions [to run ads] based on journalistic integrity. They will not do something unless its substantiated."
And, from the department of Get a Life People, Bob Brady's campaign reports that he received another threat today. This one came to Brady's congressional office in Washington, where Brady is chairing a House Administration Committee hearing.
One new piece of news today: It looks like Tom Knox's direct mail arsenal now includes an attack on Michael Nutter, laying out some of his connections to party secretary Carol Campbell.

Sounds like maybe Nutter's showing up as the front-runner in Knox's internal polls?

Yes. Knox has now aimed his smear cannon at a new target. No doubt, his army of bloggers led by the "award winning journalist and blogger on hiatus" will now descend from cyberspace, engaging on yet another seek and destroy mission.
It should now be apparent that there is no depth to which Knox and his brass knuckled mercenaries will not stoop.
Whoever or whatever stands in this vampire's way will be met with a barrage of orchestrated filth and derision.
Is this who we want to be mayor?
Tom Knox = Unfit to lead our city.

TOM KNOX BAD. BAD, BAD, BAD.

Perhaps there is a reason that Fattah and Knox are setting their sites at Nutter, like Tim said, their internal polling must be showing that Nutter is the man to beat. By the way, who is the only candidate in this campaign not to go negative against his opponents? He did go negative on Street, but good god that man deserves it.

I just got Knox's anti-Nutter mailing today. It's pretty blunt, ending with "Do NOT vote for Michael Nutter." Not even the usual attempts at poetry, like "The wrong choice for Philadelphia," just a command. Brass knuckles is right.
The mailing quotes Philadelphia Magazine and the Daily News about the Campbell connection, without, of course, mentioning that these publications recently endorsed Nutter. They may have reported on this issue, but when it comes down to decision time, it looks like the editorial staffs didn't think the Campbell issue was something to get worked up about. Once again, anybody who's paying attention to the candidates will see through Knox's ham-fisted attacks... but unfortunately, I'm sure plenty of voters will take them at face value.

Tom Knox says that if you report a drug house, he'll send the police out. If it's still there in a week, he'll send out L&I to tear the house down.
Tom Knox on poor blacks = their homes should be torn down.
(yes, this post is a jab at all the trolls calling Nutter a racist for his stop and frisk proposal, even though Tom Knox has actually said the above numerous times).

Uh, how exactly does Knox promising to tear down drug houses equate to him threatening to tear down the homes of "poor blacks"?
Posted by: Josh Cornfield | May 08, 2007 at 09:32 PM
It doesn't.

Forget Knox and his B.S line '"I won't forget where I came from..." the rest of the sentence is "because I ain't ever going back to the projects"
'
That's right -that Fraud, Union Hatin Con Artist, Clutch Cargo Mouth Knox has his skelton body plopped right in Rittenhouse Square with his Republican wife and creepy dog!
JohnnyDoc can you hear us? We ain't for knox - we are pulling BRADY #54

Knox is a loser and a blight to the city -Can't we request that NTI demolish him and his HUGE ears and false teeth, along with his "clutch cargo" mouth -I believe that he qualifies as BLIGHT

Speaking of Knox, has anyone heard that Doc supposedly worked out a deal with Knox and John Street? A few people have said that Doc and Local 98 made a deal to plug for Sharrief in exchange for John Street plugging for Knox. So, is it now going to be a Knox/Blackwell/Street/Doc ticket? Obviously Street doesn't want Nutter, and he wants his son in, so he might be ripe for a deal for the second in the polls...

I just heard on the radio that Michael Nutter has risen to 31% in the poll and is leading the field now, with Knox at 21%. The number of undecided is 21%.
Posted by: Eleanor | May 09, 2007 at 06:25 AM
The deal between Doc and Street is REAL> It also includes the recent hiring of Tom Madsen(check name) as a $65,000 Assistant to L & I Commissioner Bob Soulvible -this move was tucked neatly into this deal for Dougherty.
Imagine -L & I has a shortage of inspectors and cleks and these idiots hire a $65,000 a year assistant. This crap is why everyone wants to throw the bums out.
If Nutter is elected this guy goes and Solvible is history.

Doc, Street, & Blackwell. Knox sure knows how to spend money (err, ugh) assemble a team...
Posted by: Tim O'Leary | May 09, 2007 at 12:21 PM
No, there is no truth to the Doc/Street rumor. Doc has not talked to Mayor Street since Street turned his back on the RDA employees.
But Bob Brady, Vince Fumo and Mayor Street met twice last week in City Hall.

If anyone feels like giving some sources on these rumors that would be great. Or at least tell us who you are, anonymouses.

Well, you can already see how life under "king knox" will be. We will receive our daily orders, be told who and who not to vote for, if someone near our home sells drugs, or someone in our homes does so without knowledge he'll just have L&I tear it down. He creates backstreet deals, has a consistent and demonstrated record or not EVER looking out for anyone but himself, and surrounds himself with upstanding citizens like Youngblood, Keel, Doc, and Maxwell.
Well, Philly is the home of my heart, but I cannot bear to watch her destroyed by the king of vampires. Knox comes in, I won't be the only upwardly mobile person who decides y'all no longer deserve tax dollars.

Tearing down the homes of drug dealers??? First off, this statement shows a complete lack of understanding of how government and law enforcement works.
Aside from the extreme cost (NTI displayed the costs involved with condemnation and demolition), there is also the constitutional question of deprivation of property rights.
This is straight out of the Israeli military playbook. The Israeli military would demolish the homes of those involved with the intifadah. It didn't work there, all it did was harden the resolve of those who sought to engage in terrorism.
All this would do is serve to drive a bigger stake in heart of neighborhoods and communities.
What an idiot. Next thing you know he will be recommending public stonings and cutting off the heads and limbs of criminals.
