I met Jesus White in the middle of last year. He came to Metro HQ and told me he was launching a run for mayor. He gave me a baseball card with his picture, his head adorned with a crown. Yes, a crown.
It will go down as one of my saddest moments in journalism that I didnt' save this baseball card, for it would bring me much laughter now, two days after White handed in 2,000 nominating petition signatures to run for mayor. Good for him.
Both the Daily News and Inky decided to profile White, who apparently is "between housing" and using a homeless shelter as his mailing address. The Inky also profiles Queena Bass, the perennial civil-rights fighting mayoral candidate who we figure would make shutting Thomas Jefferson down as her No. 1 priority. Besides the whole spiel about a "campaign of Love," of course.
UPDATE: DN has the picture of a crowned Jesus.
The Daily News found the crown picture
